Riverview Childrens Photographer | Twelve by Twelve: Eyes

Can you believe that October is almost over? Where has the year gone?? It's time for my monthly post for Twelve by Twelve. This month's topic was chosen by the super talented Melissa of Contemporary Captures.  Her given topic is EYES.  I knew right away where I was going to go with this.  There is one specific memory that comes to mind when I think of EYES.

It was two years ago.

A Saturday morning & we had just left ballet class.

Kalia was three.

We made our weekly trip to our favorite bagel place for breakfast.  Kalia had to use the bathroom.  So, Mommy took her to the bathroom and Daddy ordered us breakfast.  Once we were in the bathroom, Kalia started to cry.  I had no idea what had happen.  She didn't fall or get hurt?? Nothing was said or done between the car and the bathroom??

And then...

"Mommy, so-and-so in ballet class has blue eyes and I don't.  My eyes are not pretty because they are not blue".

I was heartbroken.

"Mommy has blue eyes, but you know what? I wish I had your eyes.  You're eyes... are MAGIC. Sometimes they are green.  And sometimes they are brown.  And sometimes they are YELLOW! But they are never the same.  They are always changing colors. And THAT, my girl, is MAGIC!"

I slowly saw her sad face disappear...
"Magic?"

"Magic."
